In the training level with the ally, you should send at least 15 men to the ally's town
because the town will be under attack and you need the town. build 5 archers and ten men
at arms. have your archers go inthe town, while your men at arms wait outside. keep your
archers on stand ground and the men at arms on defensive mode.

If you're playing with a human ally and don't want him mining gold that by its geograph-
ical proximity is yours,or you would like to steal his relics when teams are locked, don't
despair. There is a way to kill his villagers near your town and destroy his monastery.
First wait until he is so distracted from engaging the enemy where the 'under attack' horn
is heard frequently. Then grab 4 or 5 catapults (the more the better cos you want to do it
quickly, so that he doesn't realise it was his ally whom did it) and click on 'hit ground'
precisely where the object or people are that you wish to destroy. In the case of the mon-
astery have monks ready to pick up immediately as relics are revealed. My ally discovered
what I was doing and promptly spat the dummy and resigned. I won. Woo Hoo!

Once you have built a archery ranch
(where people with bows and arrows
are created) create alot of calvary
archers (about 12) and when attacking
a unit it will die in one hit. If
your fighting a war elephant hit and
run couple of times and they will die.

Walls
When you are starting to build walls and towers, build towers just a little separate from
the walls so that when you get cannon towers you can put them infront of the arch towers.

After building a wall, build one or two more rows right next to it and you will see that it
levels up and is much stronger you are in much more safty.

This is a good way to keep your opponent's
army at bay if you need time to build up
your own. In most regular game scenarios,
the computer will usaully start to attack
your civilazation in the castle age. If you
are playing on a landtype that has rivers
with shallows that seperate you and your
oppenents this is a good idea that I always
use. Build a dock not to far, but out of the
general attack range of your opponent. Next
build lots of demolitionships and set the
gather point adjancent to or even on the
shallow. When your opponents sends parades
of cavalry and infantry to attack your base,
they will be in for a huge surprise.

Elevation is key to a sucsessful defence.
Even more important if you have an archery
powerhouse like Turks or Britons.

1. Get a Ram
2. Make 4 Tuetonic Knights for a Battering Ram,5 Tuetonic Knights for a Capped Ram, 6
Tuetonic Knights for a Siege Ram
3. Garrison the Tuetonic Knights in the Ram and you will have faster Tuetonic Knights,
and a faster Ram
Now your probally wondering how can the Tuetonic Knights go faster if there garrisoned
in the Ram whel all you have to do is move the Ram that has the Tuetonic Knights in it
a little and then ungarrison the Tuetonic Knights and both the Tuetonic Knights and the

Always use castles. Castles are the key to victory. Either for protection or for invasion.
They have lots of hitpoints, and lots of firepower. Sometimes, it's really fun to just go
into their territory, and build 3 or 4 castles.

One of my favorite ways to attack an enemy is to build Bombard Cannons, Hand Connoneers,
and Unique Units. It's so easy to defeat them because you can take out the enemie's castle
with Bombard Cannons and their military units with your Hand Connoneers and Unique Units.
PS: other military units work too.

Fishing:
If there is a little, tiny, small lake near your
base, use it, even if there is sea near. You can get
food with the nets and you will not have to build
battle ships to defend.

In Age of Empires 2: Conquerors Expansion, combat is a major factor. Without combat units, you simply will not survive. However, your units cannot fight (or be created for that manner) without food, gold, wood, and for defenses, stone. The next
few paragraphs will explain some of the key elements to a strong economy, and an impenetrable army.
If you have recently read the strategy guide "Age of Empires: Inside Moves" you will have discovered that you should begin building combat units sometime in the feudal age, or even the dark age. This strategy will work perfectly...against the
computer on easy. When playing against other human players, you will find that most will not rush. They generally wait until the castle age to send an attack. Therefor, building up a small army in the feudal age will be a waste of resources, and
economic suicide. In the dark age, focus on hunting and gathering. Send your scout out to collect as many sheep as possible, you should have at least 8 sheep somewhere around your camp. use about 3 villigers to chop wood, but only enough to
build the necessary buildings to advance. In the feudal age, continue with hunting and gathering. Put the villigers you had working hunting and gathering now on wood, and build about 15 more villigers. Upgrade your farms. place 10 villigers on
farms and 5 on gold. Advance. Now it is time for some military.
Now that you are in the castle age, you should start to think about military. You should allready have some walls up or some towers for defense. Place castle's at narrow pathways (as in Black Forest) to catch moving armies off gaurd. Build a
barracks and a stable or archery range depending on your civ's strengths (britons would be archery range, franks would be stable) Knock out about 10 units, preferably light calvary, because your greatest threat will be siege weapons. If the enemy
sends an attack of infintry, let your castle take them out while they battle your walls. Your castle should be able to reach any mangonels threatening your defenses. Stockpile your resources and advance. While advancing, begin to think of the type
of army you will build. If you see one of your resources lacking, take a few off your highest produced resource and place them on that resource. Focus on Gold and food, but keep your wood above 3000. Once in the imperial age, build a massive
army. The key to army building is resourcefullness. If you are building alot of archers, build Hussars. Why? Because archers require no food. Hussars require no wood or gold. Resourcefullness. Also, archers are good at take out everything but
calvary and siege weapons. (they can take them out but usually you will have recieved heavy losses before you can concentrate your arrows). Light calvary excel at taking out siege equipment.
After you have either won or lost the first battle you must make changes. If you won the battle, and you used alot of calvary, build alot of champions. The enemy knows he got slaughtered by calvary, so how does he counter it? With pikeman. What
slaughters pikeman? Champions. If you lost the first battle, you must immediatly start to build counter units. Calvary = Pikeman~~~Infintry = Archers and Calvary.
Continue building up armies, and upgrade as much as you can. The Byzantine army didn't survive 1000 years becuase it had hordes like the Mongols, it survived because it was the most militarily advanced. 5 palidins will take out 7 or 8 knights. 5
champions will take out 8 or 9 longswordsmen.
Victory

When Playing against the Teutons, be sure to either be the Japanese, Turks, or Byzantines. The tuetonic knights will be your greatest threat, and the Teutonic Palidin is a formidable foe also. When playing with the Japanese, Create hordes of Elite
Samurai. These have an attack bonus vs other Unique units, thus eliminating the threat of teutonic knights.
When playing as the turks, use at least 60 Janissaries when facing a line of Teutonic Knights. Place 2 lines of 30 facing the enemy. Have the first 30 fire 2 salvos, this will at least weaken the line. once they get within 3 tiles, retreat your first line
and have the second cover them. Keep moving your lines back and back, until the threat is eliminated. You should not lose a single jan with this strategy. In the case of teutonic knights backed up by archers, draw the knights away from their
archers and then flank the archers with light calvary or Hussars.
When playing as the byzantines, you will need to use alot of Flank tactics. Granted, the byzantines have the best well rounded army in the game, but they have no strongpoints. The major valley in the mountain range of the byzantines is their
inability to research blast furnace. Blast furnace gives not 1 but 2 more attack points to some units. Thus a palidin can only be upgraded to 16 attack. The byzantines do, however, have the hand cannoneer. Use a group of 45 hc's in line formation.
The first line of teutonic knights may be wounded, but will keep coming at the hc's. As soon as the knights come within 2 tiles of your hand cannoneers, quickly select them all and hit the flank button. The hc's will automatically split up into two
equal groups. The tuetonic knights will be surprised, but will quickly regain their cool and split up to take you out once and for all...NOT. Now that their is a hole in your defenses, rush through 45 elite Cataphracts with logistica researched.
Cataphracts have an attack bonus against infantry. The surprised knights are now outnumbered, outgunned, and out of options. Because of their slow speed retreat is not an option. Victory...is yours.

Here's something fun you can do when your forces
are stable and you have a pretty fortified town, if
you have any kind of shallows over a river between
your enemy and yourself, then this will work.
First. Build a wall across it, blocking any thing
that comes. Even the sides, cause they can sneak
through the sandy part (you can build a gate if you
want. It doesn't matter). From the center of the
blockade, start making a road. Make two walls that
leave only one space between them from the center of
the blockade. Then, work your way and start making a
regular pathway with the walls. Make it bend and long.
Don't make it too long, cause you'll still need your
resources (unless you're using "rock on" for cheating).
At the end of your Passage way, or "maze", creat 5 or 6
infantry men that could guard it well. Even war
elephants will work, or even cataphracts or champions.
something strong.
Now, build castles, bombard towers and keeps all around
the "pathway" You can even set of trebuchets, if you
really want. Now. Destroy your gate or the center wall
of your blockade. Enemies will start pouring through,
but they will usually be infantry men or stable units.
They will almost never reach the end. If they do, kill
them with your guards.
It's pretty fun. If they bring in bowman or onagers and
long range stuff, then build castles at the edge of your
water, bring in your men, or put galleons in front of
the pathway!!
Good luck, and have fun!
(i usually have great time with this).
Age of Empires 2: Conquerors Expansion Cheat-codes |
After you type a cheat code into the text
box highlite it with the mouse pointer.
Then hit CTRL+C. This saves the code to
memory. Then when you want to use it again
hit CTRL+V instead of re-typing the code.
This works great with the resource codes to
build stockpiles FAST! I usually start the
game and immediately build 30,000 or so of
food, gold, and wood, and usually about
10,000 in stone!
Type "AEGIS" in the text box to unlock the
instant build cheat. One warning though....
the computer players WILL build about 200
lumber yards!
